About our company name

ÆSIR International Ltd. was officially formed in August 2002 with the purpose in mind of building a company that would model complex mechanical objects in a virtual computer space. The idea of creating form and matter from a void led the company's founders to various myths and legends surrounding the creation of the earth and of all of the creatures and objects upon it. Being primarily of European descent, the ancient Norse legends could not be overlooked. Within these legends, much rich material was found:

The gods, in Northern mythology called Æsir (pillars and supporters of the world), having thus triumphed over their foes, and being no longer engaged in perpetual warfare, now began to look about them, with intent to improve the desolate aspect of things and fashion a habitable world. After due consideration Börr's sons [Odin, Vili and Ve] ... began to create the world out of [Ymir's] various components and parts. Out of the flesh they fashioned Midgard (middle garden) as the earth was called.

The Æsir also went on to create the oceans, hills, cliffs, trees, and then completed their efforts by creating the heavens and the fleecy clouds. After this, the stars sun and moon were made and placed in the heavens. And so they continued until their work was done.

ÆSIR International Ltd., thus inspired by the Norse legends, took on the name of this race of Northern gods. Anyone who has ever watched the process of building assemblies in Autodesk Inventor, and then witnessing the new creation "come to life" needs no further explanation regarding the origins of this firm's namesakes.
